In Genesis 2:21-24 we see that woman was produced by God from the side of man. This principle is seen in the New Testament in that neither man nor woman is independent of each other (1 Corinthians 11:3, 8-12). From the side of man, woman was made, and from the woman man is born. Both man and woman are of God, and vital to …show more content…
Genesis 22 tells how God told Abraham to sacrifice his only son Isaac as a burnt offering to the Lord. As Abraham lays his son Isaac on the altar and is about to kill him the Lord stops him and presents Abraham with a ram to sacrifice instead (Genesis 22:9-13). There are many parallels between Isaac and Jesus. For instance, both Isaac and Jesus were conceived miraculously. Isaac was born to a 90 year old woman, and Jesus was born of a virgin. Abraham and Sarah were told what to name their son just as Mary and Joseph were told what to name their Son. Isaac was obedient to his father to the point of death and Jesus was obedient to the Father to the point of death. Abraham was given a ram to sacrifice, but Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29). The principle is practical and lived out by Jesus Christ. In order to have atonement for sin, a sacrifice of blood is necessary. It would be impossible to gain and understanding of the crucifixion of Jesus without this timeless principle which is eluded to in the New Testament in Hebrews 9:22-26.
A lesser known, but practical principle is found in Deuteronomy 25:4. This verse was a law that about oxen eating while at work. To make it simple, the ox was not to be stopped from eating while it worked. The New Testament verses that balance this principle is found in 1 Corinthians 9:9-14, 1Timothy 5:17-18, Luke 10:7. All of these verses are in the context of ministry workers being paid for doing the work of the Lord. In fact Deuteronomy 25:4 is quoted directly by the apostle Paul and Jesus as being valid and valuable for justifying the payment of
