“The Of The Screw” is a story about a young women that is employed to watch over two young children, Flora and Miles. The story is being told by the governess and her ordeal while staying at Bly. See the governess is a young and beautiful lady that was raised in a sheltered household with little to no life experiences. Her father was a preacher so she was religious. She gets emotionally fast and falls in love quick as well. After meeting her employer, Douglas for the second time she started to have feelings for him. She wanted to make sure that she does her job correctly to please him and hope that he come to visit. However, arriving to the mansion things were not as they same. Has she become crazy or was she plagued with spirits?

She packed her bags and was on her way out. When she was riding away from the house she saw the spirit behind every tree. She than thought she has to go back and protect the children. As she was heading out the children told her “The governess always leaves.” The maids did a bet to see how long she will last. She turned back around and made her mind up that she will stay with them and keep them safe. So that she tried, but it didn’t play out that way. She became emotional and paranoid. By the end if the movie she went insane and end up hitting Miles multiple times. She couldn’t stop. In her mind Miles is Peter and Flora is the governess. She saw Miles hitting Flora and trying to drown her. Then governess allowed her emotions and paranoia to consume her mental state which led her to do such things. She then begged Flora to say what had happened but she didn’t. At the end the governess seemed like a looney.
Is the governess crazy? Was she being preyed on by spirits? These questions will not have an answer because only the governess knows and she may not know.
