If I were to put Homer’s The Odyssey into a feature film, the theme of the film would be a young high school freshmen trying desperately to get over the heartbreak of her last relationship. She had a boyfriend for two years and found him cheating on her at a party on their two year anniversary. She thankfully has her two best friends to help her through the obstacles that are just the aftermath of her heart break and that will finally get her back on her feet. The Odyssey should be made into this type of feature film because it is based on modern day problems of a teenage girl so it is more exciting, but still in the perspective of Homer's The Odyssey.
The setting of the film is in the 21st Century in a small town in Florida called Allentown. Although Florida is usually sunny and has an exciting vibe, Allentown is calm and rarely eventful. Their only High school is Cornwall which educates about 200 students altogether. The small town has many places for teens to get into trouble which is the worry of many parents. They meet Dustin (Calypso) at another party and they think that he is the perfect guy. Dustin ends up falling in love with Alex, but she doesn’t feel the same so he tries to kidnap her so she will “be with him forever.” Allison finds out about his plans and calls the police. They split up over the small town looking for Alex and Dustin. They find them at a warehouse in and Alex is tied to a chair while Dustin sits across from her. When Dustin hears the police sirens, he starts to run but is caught and taken into custody by the police. Alex is free to go and is more traumatized then ever.
