The Odyssey, a story told about a man on a journey to war. After winning the war against Troy, Odysseus, the leader had a long difficult journey home. Is he a hero or a rebel? It is the question most asked when people read the Odyssey. Odysseus is a hero because he is intelligent and he saved his family from any harm.\
Odysseus is a hero because he showed how intelligent he is by escaping the Cyclops. In The Odyssey, Odysseus stabs the Cyclops’ only eye, he has his men tied under three sheep. Except he was wrong, Odysseus’ wife, Penelope and their only son, Telemachus were forced into a new life after Odysseus left for war. The suitors, men want to marry Penelope, have been eating all of Penelope and Telemachus food. Telemachus set out onto a trip to see if his father could be alive. Except one night when Odysseus returned, he wasn’t himself. He was disguised as a beggar so he could plan an attack to save his family.
Odysseus is an example of a hero, though he may of let some of his men die, he did save a lot more people in the end. He was considered a he saved his men from the sirens. He made his men tie him up and put wax in their ears so they wouldn’t be drawn to the sirens. If Odysseus didn’t make his men put wax in their ears, all of them would have been dead. He saved family member’s lives and people from losing their children all because of Odysseus.
