Antinous the rude and aggressive suitor was shot with a arrow through his throat. Eurymachus tried to say he would repay Odysseus for all that was taken and tries to get out of being killed but Odyyseus shot him in his chest and liver with a arrow. Amphinimous is killed by Telemachus when he tries to attack Odysseus. Some of the punishments that seemed a bit more severe than necessary were the killing of Melanthius, Leodes, and the maid servants. Melanthius may have deserved death for the way he treated the king but cutting off his ears and nose, ripping off his genitals, and feeding them to the animals is very severe. People he put in positions to take care of the palace and the land were rude, deceitful, and un loyal. Punishments deserved to be given. Some may have been extremely severe but they still deserved to be punished. A king cant be taken seriously if he returns home and doesn't take care of the people that caused damage to the land. The wooers wouldn't have respected him if he didn't take the actions he did and they would have tried to takeover his palace
