The students used self-evaluations within people’s height and weight to get a calculation of their body mass index. After that they looked at the association between obesity and socioeconomic status (education and income). The lower socioeconomic status aspects related to obesity is the amount of income this group earns. People who earn low income tend to buy junk food that costs less compared to healthier food choices that are typically expensive. The researched gathered by this study indicated that majority of minorities have a higher chance of becoming obese than whites.
