Leading up to the trial she had an impeccable record as a prosecuting attorney. During the trial she showed her tenacity at being extremely prepared and had an uncanny ability to explain complex scientific evidence from all evidence but it didn’t match the million dollar dream team of OJ’s lawyers. Quickly the lawyers and the media labeled her boring, hardnosed, and having no emotion. When that didn’t get to her the media went after her appearance. They ridiculed her hair, her clothes, her lipstick color, the circles under her eyes, and even the hemline of her suits. She became an underdog in the courtroom and had to defend herself at all times. Then came the LAPD’s evidence tampering and the witness credibility and when that wasn’t enough the media got a hold of a topless photo from earlier years that had nothing to do with the trial and published it(Yamato). Her confidence slowly began to waiver. Prosecutor Christopher Darden was her partner and although they were less critical of him, the media decided to insinuate of a possible affair between the two. In his memoir “Contempt” he wrote, "She and I were two passionate people thrown together in a trial that left us exhausted and lonely," Darden wrote at the time. "She was willing to take off her jewelry and go to jail with me over a ridiculous contempt ruling. I was willing to be at her side during her child custody deposition" (Kile). Johnnie Cochran, Robert Shapiro and F. Lee Bailey were OJ Simpson’s highly priced defense attorneys. They were what the media named “The Dream Team”. Rich in celebrity connections and prior high profile cases these men turned the murder trial of OJ Simpson into the lynching of the LAPD police
