Although it was to the whole nation, it was directed towards the citizens of Oklahoma. He reassured Oklahomans that they are not alone in their time of grief and suffering. The President and First Lady planted a tree to honor the children that lost their life in the bombing. The tree is symbolic of the beginning of healing. He gave hope to the people that were angry, felt alone and felt violated because of the attack. He reminds the audience that justice would be brought to those who did this evil thing.
