My former next door neighbor, Dr. Bridget Holden, who I also had the opportunity to shadow, is a mother of three, a wife to a lawyer, an active member of her church, a regular tennis player and also a surgeon. I had wanted to become a doctor since I was young but as I reached high school, people were telling me more and more about the difficulties of the lifestyle that most physicians, especially for women and especially in regards to having a family. I was told I should be a nurse or a PA instead but I was still sure about wanting to be a physician.
