The Nurse and Friar Lawrence showed a lot of similarities during the play , without these two characters the play would not have been the same. After Romeo’s banishment the Nurse said to Juliet “Then since the case so stands as now it doth , I think it best you married with the county ” . (III.V. CCXVIII-CCXIX.) The Nurse was suggesting that Juliet should marry Paris since he is “ a lovely gentleman ” (III.V. CCXX .) But on the other hand, Friar Lawrence did not want Juliet to marry Paris due to the fact that she was already married to Romeo and he could not marry a person who was already married before. So to stop the marriage from happening he came up with a plan to stop the wedding from happening. Beside the different actions and beliefs between the Nurse and Friar Lawrence , they also have very opposite personalities. Friar Lawrence presents himself as a holy and reserved man throughout the play . Through the play, he showed character traits of being trustworthy, respectful and .
