The Novel ‘1984’ by George Orwell, society is under control of big brother, the leader and protector of Oceania. The story in my opinion is related to the society that we live in today. 1984 and the society that we live in today both share qualities like relationships are based on pain or that the government is reversed. Either way I say that the relationships are based on pain and that the government is corrupted not reversed.
1984 is a fictional book that takes place in a dystopian society. Since 1984 is fiction it can 't relate to contemporary society, right? I say that 1984 is in fact a novel that relates to what our society has become. In the article “George Orwell and the Mad World: The Anti-Universe of 1984” written by Ralph Ranald, he states that in 1984 all human relationships are based on pain (Ranald 2). I agree with statement never less that the fact it is true. In 1984 it says “ They were perhaps four meters apart when the girl stumbled and almost fell flat on her face” (Orwell 105). This statement relates to the idea that all human relationships are based on pain. She fell on the ground to get Winston 's attention, she inflicted pain on herself to communicate to Winston. Also she fell on the ground to not only show pain to herself but how weak the government is. Big Brother doesn 't know that she fell to tell Winston that she loved him.
