Benedict Arnold should not be considered an American hero. In the book The Notorious Benedict Arnold, Steve Sheinkin states “ Arnold made his case to Congress on May 19. Or, he tried to—his lack of political skill hurt him. What began as a sincere appeal for justice quickly turned into angry whining…. He knew he was fighting a losing battle… Finally, on July 10, he wrote his letter of resignation. ‘My feelings are deeply wounded,’ he told Congress ” (153-156). This quote shows Benedict Arnold views and feelings about the American and their position in the war. Benedict Arnold was frustrated because he felt Congress was overlooking his abilities.
