CRITICALLY ANALYSE THE NOTION THAT AUSTRALIA IS AN EGALITARIAN SOCIETY WITH REFERENCE TO RACISM AND ETHNICITY
Australia’s essence is ethnically diverse. A provocative euphemism would support Australia as an egalitarian society and to say otherwise would be concealing the truth. By critically analyzing sociological theories together with implemented public policies and societal worldviews towards racism and ethnicity, this essay analyses Australia’s social fabric and competing historical perspectives of racial and ethnic diversity and discernment.

Derived from the French word égal, egalitarianism, is a mythical ideology (Kolb, 2008, p. 661). In view of that, the egalitarianism doctrine favours western industrial societies as equals with equivalent “political, economic, social and civil rights” (Boudon, 2013, p. 146), and endorses the removal of all socio-economical inequalities or elite statuses. This concept of moral social ideals advocates to temper inequities of fundamental worth or social status creating equitable communities (Abercrombie, Hill, & Turner, 2000, p. 122).

Drawing from Max Weber’s subjective race and ethnic concepts, Webers foundations for a micro-sociology with respect to ethnic relations, allows an explanation of contributing societal forces from society 's scale of socio-economic statuses and interconnected inequities (Banton, 2014).
