True Love In The Notebook, By Nicholas Sparks

What is love? The exact definition, of love, is ”an intense feeling of deep affection”(google). Now, if you are even the slightest bit of a “romantic”, then you simply tell yourself that there is so much more to that, that goes into love that there are no words to explain it. There is a saying that goes,” True love only comes once in awhile, knocks at your door, and throws you a smile. It takes every breath, and leaves every scar. It speaks to your soul and sings to your heart”(unknown). In the novel The Notebook, by Nicholas Sparks, we read about true love and the torture it causes when things don’t work out. The Notebook, however suggests something different- that is, “people exercise free will even as they move toward their fate”(Cliffsnotes). As per say, if someone executes an action that has a resulting action. The part of fate is analyzed in the remainder of the story.
The tone of the novel, given away by the narrator, divulges the personality of the narrator and provides a way to get the reader’s attention from the get go. The informality of the tale implements a connection between the reader and narrator. “The informal tone and easy-to-read narrative are deceptive because the ideas and characters in The Notebook are not as simplistic. Sparks ' style enables him to both reach and connect with a wide audience”(Cliffsnotes).
