By forcing students to hand write the graphic organizer, they are taking ownership of their thoughts and opinions, but it may also lead to more mistakes with grammar along the way. This time the topic was “What impact did the invention of the printing press have on the Reformation?” The students were given another graphic organizer to begin to complete on their own. Several class periods was given to the students as research days, including a day with instruction from the Librarian on how to use databases to find sources. At this point the students had completed their graphic organizer, started a working list of sources, and had written a thesis statement. Students had some class time to write a first draft, if they did not finish, they were to finish their first draft over a weekend and return with the first draft completed, typed, and
