The Night Road Book Report

One in five fatal crashes that happens in teen driving is alcohol related. The Night Road is revolved around three teenagers, Lexi, Mia and Zack. Relationships are a big part of the book in the beginning, weather it be between Lexi and Mia being best friends or Alexa (Lexi) and Zack forming a romantic relationship that conflicts the brother sister relationship between Zack and Mia (a complicated love triangle if you ask me). During the middle of the book there is a tragic drunk driving accident where Mia ends up dying, and the rest of the book circles around how all of the people will fix themselves and their relationships with each other throughout the death while working their way around the addition of a new life. Three things I would like to address in this journal is questioning if Lexi should have gone to prison, predicting what the future for the Farraday family will be (specifically the youngest generation) and connecting the accident to an event in my life. Zack lost his sister in a tragic car accident that, in retrospect, shouldn’t have happened. The car crash was a big event that took the life of Mia who was only eighteen and far too young to die. A quote that lead me to relate to his was one from Jude, the mother of Zack and Mia: “Zack would be alone now. An only child” (Hannah, 153). I imagined that would be something that my mother was thinking when she had lost my brother. I don’t relate very much to the death of Mia because when you take how long Zack had known his sister and how much of an attachment he had for her, I can’t say am on the same level. My brother that I lost was only a few hours old when my mother gave birth to him months too early. He died of a sickness in his blood and with that added on to the premature birth, he only lived for a few hours. So even though I didn’t know my brother for that long, I still understand the pain of losing a
