The New Tobacco Law
Regulations over under age substance usage has not been the best in nearly a decade, which is why a law that prohibits not only minors but adults as well from using tobacco products must be established. We must also put out serious consequences for those who do not obey this new law because it is a major factor in the way we will keep our generation healthy, safe and alive.
We are currently battling against many diseases in the world with one of the major ones being what is called cancer, in fact, it is said that aside from heavy exposures to dangerous chemicals and or heavy radiation, the main cause of such disease is tobacco. Tobacco contains many chemicals that harm your body and with time, the use of this product leads to serious diseases.
Currently, the law for tobacco usage in the United States states that any individual over the age of 18 is allowed to purchase tobacco products by presenting an identification card. However, according to Patricia A.Krauss, in 2001, 30% of high school youth in the United States were current cigarette smokers and 12% of youth currently use alternative tobacco products, this statistics have remained the same for nearly a decade. Cavazos claims that alternative tobacco products such as e-cigarettes have not been regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) which makes them inexpensive and easy to access.
