Advertisements are intended to persuade the consumer to buy what is being shown. The point of commercials is to target consumers by showing them how a product or service can help them solve a problem or improve their life in some way. The new Thai Life ad, named “Unsung Hero,” uses heart wrenching music and neutral, sad colors to persuade the consumers to buy the product. The seller was intent on making the buyer purchase the product. This commercial heavily relies on emotion as a way of persuading the audience. By showing the man engaging in these activities, they are making the audience have sympathy for him. The soft, classical piano music that played in the background throughout the video makes the audience’s eyes water and heart’s warm. In the beginning of the video the music did not start until he put the plant under the water. The music begun very soft and slowly; the music suddenly stops when the young man notice the little girl was not sitting next to her mom. When he heard the little girl yell “Mom” he quickly turned his head with a surprising look. The music then begun to play again slowly, and the voiceover started talking. The video started showing how the man helped the people every day and how happy they were. The advertiser wants the music to along with the way the emotion is going in the video. Throughout the video the music makes the audience feel relaxed and at peace. The music created a connection between the buyer and the product. Music is considered very important in advertisements because if the music does not correspond with the target audience then the ad would not be successful. The sad, heart wrenching music is to open up the hearts of the audience and make them want the product.
