“The New Colossus,” a story based on the theme “The American Dream,” was written by Emma Lazarus. This story says words like, pomp, teeming, and tempest. All of which relate to the theme. “The New Colossus” is mainly about the Statue of Liberty. The story was written by The Grand Council Fire of American Indians. Whom knows much about the past for Native Americans. Native Americans were once known as savages. They once thought the whites as murderers. Where as the Indians would only kill animals for food and not just for fun. The whites seemed to blame the Native Americans for a lot more then they did. Indians were sadly mistaken for the most part. This story goes to the theme because it talks about the ones that first came to the united states and created much and discovered more.
To conclude the theme of “The American Dream” I feel that the story that most spoke to me, would have to be “Refugee in America.” Mr. Huges was bullied because of the color of his skin. That is not ok nor is it fair. The saddest thing is that there are still many people to this day that are racist and judge others by the color of their skin. I will say that the United States has achieved much over the years and has come less racist and more regions have been welcomed. The United States even had its’ first Colored president. Hopefully more may be helped rather it be race or
