The song written by The Neighbourhood, “Single”, portrays a quintessential example of what true love honestly is. With its deeply passionate lyrics, and influential messages about love, the lead singer Jesse Rutherford, provides an exquisite representation of what the honest meaning of true love is; with his lyrics, Jesse displays the importance of respect, admiration, and commitment when it comes to true love. The first verse in the song “Single” is dedicated to his girlfriend Devon, and her father, which shows his profound love for her. “I don't know if we should be alone together/I still got a crush, that's obvious/If nobody's around, …show more content…
Jesse is anxious about them being alone together, simply because they couldn’t control themselves physically, and that wasn’t fair to Dave. Jesse believes he has to have permission first. But now his love for her has has gone a step farther to the point where he doesn’t think they can even be around each other, because of the love he has for her and it is excruciatingly painful to feel all of this love for someone he can’t have yet. He is hypnotized by her and all his attention is focused on Devon. It is obvious that the love is equal; they are soulmates. “I don't think that we should be around each other/When you're in the room, you get my eyes/You open your mouth, I'm hypnotized/I can make you laugh until you cry/You know you got all my attention/You know you got all mine” (Genius.com). It then goes back into the hook, where Jesse is politely asking for Dave to let Devon be with him forever. Love is a thing that can make you crazy about the person you're with, but in a good way. Again, this Second hook is also a dedication to dave.“Can you let your baby be my girl? x3/Can you let your baby be mine?”

Throughout my lifetime, there has been moments of laughter as well as grief. But a moment in my life that was pivotal was when I first felt the love of my life, at the moment, fade away slowly from me and sort of detach from our relationship. The song by Christian Nodal- “Adios Amor” showed me how at times when the love fades between partners to the point where there is no love at all, you have to do your best to move on rather than spending time grieving the love that is lost. Therefore, the song “Adios Amor” gave me the tough realization that some relationships are best to let go of if they don’t work as a young adult, and will continue to guide me throughout my life.…

Men and women have been at odds since the beginning of time; there has been much speculation as to who can love who more. The problem with the debate is that the controversy is over the amount of love rather than the type of love. With this stated, it can be assumed that the problem is no longer concerning the amount of love that a single person can have when compared to another, but rather the different style of love that is specific to the two sexes. In turn, the difference in love is basically a battle between the sexes for who has the better type of love. As John Donne writes in Sonnet 18, "let mine amorous soul court thy mild dove" (Donne line 12).…
