According to Merriam-Webster’s dictionary, ‘sitcom’ is an abbreviated term for situational comedy and is defined as, “a show that is on television regularly and that is about a group of characters who are involved in different funny situations” (Merriam-Webster, 2017). Sitcoms are a progression of projects appeared on TV that ordinarily include a family or a nearby group of characters. Sitcoms appear to have been around as far back as television was presented to the family home, and are proceeding to change alongside TV itself. Customarily, sitcoms were for the most part based on men, normally having just a single or two female characters.
