The Negative Impacts of Technology Ever since the early 2000’s technology has played a gigantic role in people’s lives. Every kid in this generation has grown up with technology and has seen it progress over the years. Technology can be things such as computers, video games, phones, and television. Today, you cannot go anywhere, except maybe the outdoors, without seeing some sort of technology, but that is still very uncommon in today’s society. Technology and social media have become the most popular things in the world. In the past 7 to 8 years social media has really taken off with apps such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat. The more access children have to technology the more prone they are to not being physically active. In today’s society, children would much rather spend their day playing video games or watching their favorite television show instead of spending the day outside playing with their friends. This has helped cause the obesity rates to skyrocket the past 15 years. It is not a coincidence that people are becoming more obese as technology becomes more popular. Technology is designed to help and make our lives more convenient. Technology makes communicating across long distances much easier. People could be multiple hours away from each other and be able to have a conversation with one another very easily due to things like cell phones and facetiming. It is also very helpful with school. Technology allows students to conduct research very easily instead of having to go to the library and digging through multiple books to find information. For small businesses technology is essential to help promote their services. With things such as Facebook and Twitter, businesses can get their name out very easily for no cost at all.
