First Requirement- Social structure and interaction in everyday life
Ascribed status: A social status a person is assigned either at birth or involuntary later on in life.
Achieved status: A social position you collect voluntarily because of choice and/or earned.
The ascribed status that I feel is the most important to me is I am a Caucasian white female. This means a lot to me because I know I can not choose the color I am or if I am a male or female. In today’s society this is changing. Today if you are a girl you can surgically change into a male or vis versa, if you want to pay the money to have the surgeries necessary.

In high school I was always hard working and I tried to put in 110% of my effort in whatever I was doing. I like this ascribed status because I know I tried and I know I deserved the rewards at the end of every sports season. I worked my butt off because I cared and I wanted to be the best.
Today my achieved status is I am a try hard. I get called a “try hard” because I try at everything I do. Every sport I play, every job I work, and every class I take I work hard. I get told I go above and beyond the requirements through school and work but I know I am learning something. If I am going to be spending my own money and making as much money as I can while I work at Matt’s grill and Bar I want to make my costumers feel welcome and I want to be tipped very well.
In the future I plan on working as a registered nurse in the emergency room and I want to have an achieved status as a “try hard” and a hard working female. I want to save lives and have others be proud that they have nurses and doctors that can make a deference. So, in the future I would like to see my ascribed status as Dr.
