The impact on my social life that was affected, was friendships. I was close friends with a few of the boys before being on their team. After they showed their true colors it was hard to look at them the same. So it is safe to say that I lost friends due to discrimination. Personally, my feelings were crushed by the way my so called friends acted just because I was a girl playing on their basketball team. I felt very discriminated against because of my sex. It was hard for me to understand why a girl could not be just as good as a guy at something. After being impacted socially and personally it made me mentally exhausted. Mentally I would just keep thinking over and over again in my head what was wrong with, what is do different between boys and girls, and why did boys have to be so mean. Which at the age of five this was a lot to take in and try to figure out. The group that discriminated against me could are classified as young grade school boys who just did not want to admit that us girls could kick their butts at basketball.I believe they targeted me because I was one of three girls that were asked to play their team. I feel this is true because I was friends with them all before being on the same team. However, after the fact, it took me a while to even say hello to them. Finally, after a few months, I was over the situation and we were all friends
