Veterans who were handicapped as a result of the war might have limited hiring opportunities and are likely to have low performing abilities on the job which could lead to decrease in future income. Also, factors like skills mismatch, post war trauma (PTSD) and negative stereotypes about veterans might reduce their chances of being hired which could also lead to a decrease in future income. According to Angrist and Krueger (1994), there can be opposite outcomes for the veterans who serve in the wars that were not supported by the public . Veterans who served in such wars are more likely to receive negative reactions from the public and the labor market .
