Vaccinations started to become prominent in United States society around 1809 when Massachusetts required a vaccination for smallpox (Martindale-Hubbell). Now, laws about vaccinations are up to the jurisdiction of the state. Some examples of common required vaccinations in the U.S are for Diphtheria, Haemophilus Influenza B, Hepatitis B, Pertussis (whooping cough), Polio, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Tetanus (Martindale-Hubbell). There is also the argument that some vaccinations cause other life threating and life changing issues such as autism. While there are a few cases where vaccinations have had ill affects on children those cases are very slim and far and few between. The few cases that vaccinations did cause a form of autism it was proven that the disorder was already in the child and there underlined disorders covered by other various issues, the vaccinations didn’t cause the disorder they reacted to the other issues and in turn brought autism to the surface. “Studies of children with autism spectrum disorders have concluded that some may have mitochondrial disorders, and that the regressive developmental deterioration seen in children with autism is identical to that in patients with mitochondrial diseases” (Anderson).…

Making it a very big pro for them to be useful and helpful in a child’s life. The FDA has required up to 10 or more years of testing for the vaccines to be licensed and registered as safe for the human body. This has resulted in many parents becoming skeptical about vaccinations; and with good reason. The polio vaccine can increase a child’s chance of developing Autism. The Hepatitis B vaccine can increase the likelihood of developing Bell’s Palsy (Alp, Tan, and Orbak). Vaccines can also cause a lot of negative side effects, from slight discomfort to major illness (Link). The Impact of the Anti-Vaccination Movement On the 10th of September 2016, 54 cases of American citizens having measles, a dangerous yet preventable disease, had been reported. The cause of the disease is only partially due to the Morbillivirus measles virus, and the rest of the blame falls on the anti-vaccination movement. There are those who claim this anti-vaccination propaganda presents a serious threat to our society. Diseases that the scientific community had greatly diminished or completely eliminated are on the rise once more. This movement not only endangers the lives of the youth of our nation, but also damages the psyche of those who have been diagnosed with any of the Autism Spectrum disorders, and promotes scientific illiteracy.…

Research and studies show the possible negative outcomes for families who do not vaccinate their children, for instance a child with a vaccine-preventable disease can be denied attendance at schools or child care facilities. Also a more severe issue with not getting vaccinations is that “some vaccine-preventable diseases can result in prolonged disabilities and can take a financial toll because of lost time at work, medical bills or long-term disability care,” so if you do not get your child vaccinated they could have set backs holding them back in life financially and physically, while holding yourself back as well. In contrast, getting vaccinated against these diseases is a good investment and usually covered by insurance. “The Vaccines for Children program is a federally funded program that provides vaccines at no cost to children from low-income families.” Because of this there really should be no argument against vaccines, but some claim vaccines are unnecessary because some diseases that vaccines target are relatively "harmless" to humans.…

Vaccinations, a mandatory process all kids need to complete in order to stay in schools. While there are laws that mandate the need for vaccinations, there are those who oppose them. Lately there has been a real uproar about vaccinations, making them seem controversial; like it infringes on their rights and how the vaccinations are just for profit and their main driving force creates autism and or permanent damages in children. Given these counter clams I believe they miss the point of why vaccinations are essential which are to keep every child safe, to stop outbreaks and keep morality rates down.…
