Cosmetic testing is when scientists experiment with makeup, skin, hair care products , and even household products on animals. The death rate following cosmetic testing is significantly lower than that of clinical and scientific. In one study called the Draize Test, rabbits had their eyes forced open, put into restraints, and had the shampoo poured onto their eyes to see how irritable it was. This test is highly unreliable because it produces such fickle responses (“Rabbits: Blinded”). Another awful experiment that is performed exclusively on mammals is an “itch test.” They are shaved, and new experimental skin creams are applied to their skin. Just like in the Draize Test, they are put into restraints and cannot move during the whole experiment. Scientists then record their reactions to the skin cream, and that is how they gauge whether the product is itchy or not. Shockingly, China is the only superpower in which cosmetic animal testing is required, but every single other superpower uses it to test their products even though is not necessary. This should be stopped because there are alternatives available that can cut out the testing and abuse of these …show more content…
Overall, It should be stopped because of its remedial nature, and because of the horrifying undertakings being acted on the animals every day. These tests lead to the death of over 100 million animals annually, but it can all be stopped by using alternatives. The three main categories of animal testing are clinical, cosmetic, and scientific. The worst of the three happens to be clinical in which animals are subjected to being dosed with new experimental medications. However, there are groups trying to stop animal testing, and they are doing a great job of doing it. With the risings of new animal rights groups and alternatives, they are winning the war on stopping animal testing. It is true that these types of testing can be beneficial in some aspects, but ultimately it should be put to a stop because of all the harm it
