Do Social Media Hamper Real Life Relationships?In the Article "Technology hurts social bonds", by Shawn Ghuman, the author talks about how technology is taking over real life communications between people. He argues that people are spending too much time on their phones and that is affecting face-to-face relations. The absence of in person interaction is causing more anxiety among shy people. He says that people portray themselves however they want online, hiding behind a fear of rejection. Humans are nature social beings and that there are other ways to communicate, other than just texting. Technology is important these days but we should spend less time on our phones. THESIS STATEMENT

It has made communication easier and faster. People no longer have to pick up the phone or write a letter (and wait days or even weeks to receive it); they can simply log in to a social media account and immediately connect with others. Life has become more practical and accessible. GIVE EXAMPLE. Also we have instantly access to news from all over the world. Much of the news information that people read about comes from social media websites. The world has become ‘smaller’. With things like Google earth, it is possible to travel to about any place on the globe without spending a dime. Business people can do face to face international business from thousands of miles away. We can actually find old time friends and families. The commodity of not having to leave home to shop is a plus. I use a amazon.com often and many other online stores to shop. Returns are simple to do and I get a refund almost immediately. Social media is a very useful learning tool for school. Last semester I took an online math class and often used the internet to get help. But for me to be able to communicate fast and secure with people who is currently on the other side of the world is definitely a plus of the Internet. Seeing the face of my family and hearing them speak is one of the most treasured asset of the Internet itself and most of the people out there can truly appreciate this. Today, I can contact my family members wherever I am. Actually we hardly ever call each other, because a simple message is faster and we are sure to get it almost instantly.
