The Negative Effects of Power
Power has many effects on the people that are not in power, some effects that one may not think to exist. There can be many negative effects caused by the one that has the power over others. Power has a negative effect on communities because those with power can be corrupt and take advantage of others and harm them. There are examples of the negative effects of power outside of real world events. In the play “Antigone”, King Creon abuses his power and becomes corrupt against Antigone. When Antigone buries her brother, the King refuses to listen to her reasoning and banishes her in a cave to die. He does not listen to the other side of the argument and takes action without consulting anyone else about his decision.
