Nationalism
Nationalism is defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary as being a feeling that people have of being loyal to and proud of their country. The three sources provided stand testament to that statement by either supporting the idea of nationalism or challenging it. In the first given source, a quote is given in which it outlines some negatives about the United Nations operations and listing this process as a challenger of nationalism. The second provided source depicts a man attempting to teach middle eastern man of western democratic ways, while a man seems uninterested as he is aware of the system 's flaws; the artist 's intention was to outline the effect of westerners attempting to implement their …show more content…
The artist behind this image seems to be trying to show how peacekeeping organizations such as United Nations work to indoctrinate the people of other nations to western ideals, which in this case is democracy, although the system itself is clearly not flawless and may not solve the all issues it claims to solve. An issues facing the United Nations is the blatant bias expressed by attempted indoctrination of western ideals, to those nations who may believe in alternate ideals. This is a direct offense against the nationalism of other nations as it is an attempt to rob them of their own identity by implementing their own western ideals. This source depicts a negative insight into the United Nations operations by the artist by outlining the redundant process of implementing a flawed political system would be as it robs the nation of its individuality while theoretically solving nothing as it is purely opinionated as to which political system works …show more content…
As a highly influential personnel within the UN committee, Anna has strengthened the peacekeeping missions during times of struggles that affected the global community. In this source, the United Nations is applauded for their tremendous work of the united nations that had became a recent phenomenon of strong unity. Since 1945 the members of the UN have been working endlessly to ensure that mass devastations such as the results of WWII were never duplicated and that only acts of peace would be implemented upon nations. The UN accomplished an abundance amount of projects that shaped the international community, such as advocating for women 's rights, fighting hunger and combating terrorism. The empowerment of women advocated for females to take a greater role in society and allowing for women to have a greater impact on the global economy. In 1979, the International Bill of Rights for Women was passed allowing for the progression of women and girls due to the United Nations promotion of gender equality. The efforts of the UN to reduce international hunger created collective efforts between unlike nations helping promote a sense of nationalism within countries that are developing. The UN is most known for their efforts in peacekeeping and rarely peacemaking against foreign invaders that allowed for the UN to help
