Importance Of Homework In High School

Homework In Junior and Senior High Homework has been a part of every student’s life all throughout middle school and high school, but never do people stop and think about whether homework actually helps students succeed in their academic careers or not. During high school, Teachers that have different opinions on homework, some believed the more homework the better, and others believed that the less homework students have the more they actually learn from the class. So does homework really help students build a stronger understanding of the material taught in class? When people think about homework, many thoughts run through their heads. People start to think about the negative and positive effects of homework. Some people lean more towards the positive effects of homework saying that homework is important because it provides students with more practice applying the knowledge they learned in class, it teaches students self discipline, time management, and research skills, and finally it helps students know what they know and what they need to work on. …show more content…
Homework can be negative because homework can often be useless busy work that takes away lots of time that could be used towards more productive things like studying, doing chores, extracurricular activities, sports, hobbies and even work. Students get really stressed out when they have a lot of homework pilled onto them at once causing them to lose sleep, interest and get frustrated especially when their homework takes a long time to be graded. I know from personal experience that homework has more harms than benefits and I know that there are certain ways to get the benefit of homework without actually doing homework. Homework can be very beneficial, but it takes away lots of valuable time that students could be using to do more important
