The Negative Effects of Cell Phone Use Cell phone use can be a very helpful thing in today’s world. They can make a simple task very quick and sometimes even mindless. Because the use of them can be so mindless, many studies are being conducted to reveal the negative effects cell phones can cause. Cell phones not only cause addiction problems, but they also have been found to cause a lack of concentration and increased stress and anxiety levels. These are only a few examples. “The Negative Effects That Your Cell Phone Is Having On You and Your Life,” by Catherine Elaine Campana, “Mobile Phones and Society—How Being Constantly Connected Impacts Our Lives,” by Laura Jerpi, and “Possession Attachment Predicts Cell Phone Use While Driving,” by …show more content…
Campana and Jerpi had arguments that were more relatable and were more on a personal level, making it easier to understand and relate to. Campana had the most personal article by sharing mainly her own personal opinions. Jerpi was able to provide some personal input but also gives sources such as Dr. Lisabeth Saunders, who has a direct effect by not being able to use her cellphone like most of us anymore. This could shock the audience and have a greater effect on them. Weller, Shackleford, Dieckmann, and Slovic had the most credible information because they conducted their own research. Because it was more scientifically written, it was harder to follow along and pick out the important information. They did include some percentages which makes it easier to see how phones are being used while driving. They were able to conclude that younger individuals were more addicted then older adults and this caused them to be on their phone more when driving, causing the huge public safety concern.
