In the movie Miracle Run the mother, Corrine of twin boys, Steven and Phillip discovered that her boys were autistic after many doctors told her that there was nothing wrong with them. Doctors were unable to conclude any problems associated with the boys. Corrine was told by doctors that boys developed slower than girls. She was also told that twins developed their own language. The movie started out with the boys being children and ended when they were in high school. They did not have any form of verbal communication as children. In addition, the boys being diagnosed with autism had a negative effect on the relationship Corrine had with her boyfriend. After may doctors stating that Steven and Phillip was fine, Corrine took them to a specialist. The specialist diagnosed the boys with autism. Corrine instantly became shock at the mere mention of autism. She left the doctors office upset and she cried in her car while in the parking lot. Corrine stopped at the grocery store to do some shopping after leaving the clinic. While shopping, she place a box of cereal in the shopping cart. Philip took the box of cereal and place it back on the shelf and Corrine tells him no. She then takes the box from the shelf and place it back in the shopping cart. Corrine and Philip goes back and forth with the cereal box and final Steven takes the cereal box out of Corrine’s hands and threw it on the floor. Steven starts screaming and cry making Phillip do the same. In the mist of screaming and crying Steven urinates on himself. Stand by shoppers, started staring; as in one shopper states that Corrine needs to control her boys. Corrine leaves the store with her boys without ringing up and paying for her groceries. Once at home from the grocery store Corrine tells her boyfriend, not the boys father, that Steven and Phillip has autism. In addition, educating Corrine may improve self-efficacy and confidence (Kuhaneck, Madonna, Novak, & Pearson, 2015). Repetition will be a good strategy when addressing communication and language. I will place different color blocks or balls in a bucket and have Steven and Philip pick a certain color out of the bucket and name the color (Therapy Street For Kids, n.d.). I will have descriptive pictures on the wall in their room showing the proper way of completing a task. I will use sensory integration as an intervention with the boys. I will introduce different textures of food as an attempt to have the boys try new foods and be cognizant of different textures (Therapy Street For Kids, n.d.; Lowsky, 2015).). The boys will benefit from auditory integration training as a means to address their sensitivity to loud sounds (Case-Smith & Arbesman, 2008). This will help them to participate in social interactions with their peers more and modulate behaviors (Case-Smith & Arbesman, 2008). Steven and Philip did not have any friends and did not know how to make any. They lacked social skills.
