Ever since same-sex marriage has been legalized in some countries, the concept of homosexuality became a hot issue all over the world. Of course, there are many people who support homosexuality and same-sex marriage when there are also many people who do not. Homosexual activists often argue that they have their own rights to enjoy sexual “freedom” and that their human rights should be protected. In contrast, people who are against homosexuals and same-sex marriage emphasize that homosexuality is unnatural, immoral, and wrong. While the debate is still going on, several perspectives, including social sciences, applied sciences, and diversity component proved that homosexuality brings negative influences to other people. In the article, “Defending Traditional Marriage,” the researcher from American College of Pediatricians showed that children, who were raised by same-sex couples, were more likely to behave in an illegal or a delinquent manner than children who were raised by opposite-sex couples. Delinquent behaviors included binge drinking, drug uses, and risky sexual behaviors. Moreover, the study from 2010 proved that teenage girls raised by female couples tend to have more sexual contact with other girls and get involved in unhealthy sex behaviors. This shows that same-sex marriage can influence their children’s behaviors as well as sexual preferences. Furthermore, women who were raised by homosexual fathers were less likely to trust others and often felt nervous, compare to women raised by heterosexual fathers.
