After Macduff finds out, he tries to fight with Macbeth but Macbeth says no. Macduff says that if he says no he will become a prisoner. After Macbeth gets courage and says: Lay on, Macduff, And damn 'd be him that first cries,” Hold, enough!” After Macduff exits, with Macbeth 's body. (5,9,34-35) This shows that negative consequences happen when they desire power because since Macduff is thought of as a threat to Macbeth, he wanted to get rid of him so he can become king. The negative result is that Macbeth dies and is not king for as long as he wanted. So, after working really hard to become king, he gets killed after only being king for a short amount of time. When he felt confident enough to fight Macduff, he thought he was going to win and have everything he wanted and no more threats that he needs to face, but consequences happen if they want power too much.
