Characteristics Of Notre Dame High School

Improved Essays
Butterflies flying in my stomach, nerves rushing throughout my body, excitement, yet also sadness for leaving my grade school friends summed up a drastic change to my morning: August 16, 2013. Coming into Notre Dame High School (NDHS), most of my closer friends in grade school only sought the negative characteristics of the school, therefore chose not to come here. One in specific being the neighborhood. Most people judged the school from the outside because of the area around it, but what really matters is what is on the inside. It tends to be an overlooked concept that needs to be fixed. Notre Dame just gravitates to be one of those schools that is misjudged. As a student, I figured there are many ways to solve this stereotype, to make …show more content…
Instantly, I could connect to Notre Dame. I felt that saying goes a long way because it is very true. Not only do they do what is best for their community, they work together. Rockhurst is a school that is strong on service, just as Notre Dame. That inspired me to make the difference, rather be the difference. I feel like the views of the neighborhood hurt the enrollment just as it has for Rockhurst University. As a student and ambassador, this is so important because not only are we trying to seek more rebels, but prove home is where the heart is. By this I mean that you should feel comfortable in school. Notre dame is my second home. Notre Dame is so much more than the outside appearance. Together we grow as a family, love like God, and do our very best to better the world we live in. John F. Kennedy always said, "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." Rather in the Lemay community, strive for the utmost desire. It can take just one person to put matters into their own hands, just like JFK. Notre Dame calls us to become Confident, Compassionate, Christian leaders, and in order to achieve this we must first take advantage of the skills we have to help and give someone else a sense of hope. To sum it up, treat others how you would like to be …show more content…
To top it off, Lemay is also safer than 24% of the cities in the United States. ("Lemay, MO Crime."). For example, Saint Louis University High School is in a worse area, yet they seem to not struggle with recruitment. What is it that they do differently? As a result, Notre Dame could reach out to their recruiters and discuss ways to improve our connection with younger people. Notre Dame should be viewed the same way. Rather focus on the school as an individual. Education is the main priority in terms of school, so focus on the school not the appearance. Notre Dame is beyond the skirt it wears and the overcast shadow it 's seen as, rather there is more to the story. Notre Dame is that one book in the library that tends to be judged from the outside; sometimes not even given a chance. There are multiple solutions to this fix and it is a matter of who really wants the change. It is important to note that small measures make huge impacts. It takes one voice to become a leader, yet one person to be the

Calvin has more than enough intramurals and clubs to compensate for the active aspect that football brings. Besides, the main focus of college is not supposed to be playing sports or the entertainment of watching them anyways; college is meant for learning and educational growth(Forbes.com-Steven). By trying to push sports for so much, it is hard to create that balance between academics and athletics. It would take extra effort from the school to cater to football athletes in order to help them get their degrees as well. And at the moment, there is not a specific need for the team or that kind or program.…

My first memory at North Carolina Governor’s School West is of crying next to my parents on a bench under a giant tree. It was move-in day for the five-and-a-half-week session, and I was already sure that they would be the worst weeks of my life. I was terrified; I knew no one except two students from my high school, who were rising juniors and to whom I had never spoken before. After that stressful first day, I fell asleep unsure of how I could make it on my own in a place filled with such talented, intelligent, and unfamiliar people. A week later, I knew that Governor’s School would be one of the most treasured experiences of my entire life.…

When I visited George Washington my sophomore year of high school, I instantly knew that your school is where I wanted to go for college. It just wasn't like any of the other colleges that I had seen before, and for that matter it was unlike any I have seen since. I saw that GW is in a beautiful location and that its presence in the capitol greatly enhances both its value and the city’s around it. I really liked walking around the campus, as it was extremely vibrant. I saw that safety is also important, and the combination of security that holds jurisdiction in this area is extremely reassuring.…

Comparing Freemont High to Maryville High High school should be a place where teens feel comfortable, and to a certain extent, free to make their own decisions. At Freemont High School (FHS), Jonathan Kozol interviewed the students’ attendance, and all of them said this school was none of the things it is supposed to be. Though Maryville High School, a small town East Tennessee school, is extremely different than Freemont High School, an inner city school in Los Angeles, at first glance, the two actually have a few things in common. When looking at what Jonathan Kozol’s wrote in his article about FHS, a Los Angeles high school called, “Freemont High School”, written in 2005, three similarities arise: crowded lunches, unsanitary conditions, and freedom. At Freemont High School there are…

My residential community has had a great impact on me. The community provides an ideal atmosphere to meet a variety of people. Not only does the residential community promote diversity and inclusion, but it has also granted me the unique opportunity of leading in a college atmosphere. After arriving at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, I started spending most of my time in the lobby because my room did not have air conditioning. While in the lobby, I met a racially and geographically diverse group of people.…

Governor’s School Last summer, I attended governor's school west where three hundred and twenty-five bright and open-minded students from all across North Carolina gathered for five and a half weeks in a college campus setting. To me, this was a big milestone in life that changed me for the better. We left our cozy lives of families and friends to start with a clean slate with strangers we’ve never seen in our lives. At first, we thought of it as a sacrifice of our summer to glamorize our college application, but throughout the program we experienced things that exceeded beyond our expectations.…

The Effects of High Enrollment in the ELI Although Henry Ford College is not a university, the high enrollment in the ELI this fall has many effects on the college, including parking spots, cultural diversity, and classes. First of all, the huge number of students in the ELI this semester eliminate the college parking lots. The college does not have many parking spots in its campus, so students have to get early to the college; so that, they can found a near parking spot. For instance, I have been an ELI student at HFC since the last winter semester, and I was able to find a near parking spot even when I am late.…

With this attitude more and more high school graduates are attending college to get a degree. This increase in attendance in the past few years has the demand for college sky rocketing; opening the door for colleges around the nation to increase the cost of attendance. There are many other factors that can build a strong university. Universities of all types have struggled to define measurable goals for their organization. If an organization achieves their measurable goals, it shows that the organization spent time and effort trying to reach that goal. Unfortunately, it is difficult to set goals in the university setting because some goals will require additional funding, such as hiring well published professors and other goals will take time, such as entry and exit evaluation to show student knowledge levels.…
