The Two Bite Club, written by Jan Adams and Annie Lunsford, explores the concept of childhood nutrition through the story of Will and Anna trying new foods from each food group. The story develops through thirty nine pages filled with colorful illustrations of the different foods they find all throughout their house. The font used in the story book resembles that of an adult’s handwriting and the first letter of the first word on each page is emphasized in a large, purple, and bold font. This easily draws the attention of a preschooler as one is reading and flipping through the pages. The language spoken by Will and the mother is complex and detailed while Anna speaks with short and simple sentences, similar to other preschoolers.…

With our activities, which continually incorporate the chart paper and flannel board, the students would learn a variety of things. Since we would use the flannel board to introduce words from the nursery rhyme that our students might not know or thoroughly understand, the students would learn new words. Also, the students would learn about intonation by echo reading the nursery rhyme in low and high pitched voices. In addition, the students would learn fluency through repeated reading, echo reading, and choral reading. With echo reading and choral reading, the children would learn where to make certain pauses and the correct pace to read the nursery rhyme.…

From reading over the handouts given to me from every student in class, I was able to pull several similarities and differences out from the seventeen interviews. A significant difference that I took away from this assignment was the differences early care/preschool educators versus those who teach in primary public school grades.
