In the short story “The Necklace” by Guy De Maupassant, the author exposes situational irony to represent a sense of justice. For example, Madame Mathilde wants to look rich and fancy for an upcoming ball she is going to attend. She asks to borrow jewelry from her rich friend as she can’t afford her own jewelry. She loses the necklace that she has borrowed from her friend.
