Misfortune
"Every month some notes had to be honored and more time requested on others... And it went on like this for 10 years." Because she spent so much money on the ball, she payed it with her youth(537). In the necklace she wanted to make a good impression on the people at the ball( ). She did this by narrowing the necklace() and payed for it in her beauty and later found out that her misfortune was in vain().
