Society constantly informs us, of the individuals who beat all of their obstacles to achieve their dreams but what happens to those who don't? Most importantly what happens to the people around them? We often see the positive effects of dreams for example “we choose to go to the moon” written by John F. Kennedy helps us understand how dreams can help us “We choose to go to the moon, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills” In this speech J.F Kennedy explains to us how dreams can be worth it and what dreams can give us, but we never see how dreams can negatively affect people and their loved ones. In an article written by Jared Latigo, he states “You’ll get negative results if you let your dream take over and control you. I think there’s a time when it needs to, but it’s a very calculated and semi-risky approach.” This statement means that very often we let our dreams take over and we focus so much on the future we forget to think about the present times and if we are not careful this decision it can make your life go horribly wrong. Another negative affect dreams can have is “The Dreaded Non-Effect” Jared Latigo describes this as worse than the first effect because it makes no change in your life yet you dream of this over and over. This can make you go insane Jared Latigo states “Albert Einstein defines insanity as doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results.” In addition, you not only have to dream and aspire you have to take the time and work the hardest one can work to accomplish that dream. Dreams and aspirations have to go hand in hand with hard work and motivation. In “ Motivations and Aspiration What's the Point?” The Guardian helps us understand how simply dreaming and aspiring to be great is not enough. When “ inequality, obvious prejudice and a stranglehold on well-paid jobs by the privately educated.” ( TheGuardian) comes to play dreams and aspirations have to be accompanied with hard work, motivation, and determination. This is one of the many problems that many individuals have to face and because of this many don't achieve their dreams.
