The reason I said that is in this short story the necklace, Mrs. Loisel thinks that the only way that she can be happy is by being rich; she feels that money can give her everything she wants. Even though her husband tries so hard to make her happy, but her self-esteem takes the better of her and she doesn’t show any happiness towards him. After an invitation to the evening reception (party) at the ministry, she start complaining that she has nothing to wear; and buys a new beautiful dress that cost four hundred France. After all of that she wasn’t really happy she wanted jewelry again she is never satisfied. She borrows her friend 's diamond necklace. If she knew to treasure everything the way its worth, then maybe the diamond necklace wouldn’t be lost. She just flaunts the necklace to every person she sees in the party. If she took proper care of the necklace she wouldn’t have needed to spend 10 years working for the money so she can pay for the diamond necklace. Through this whole story her poor husband is dragged along with her, so he also works harder to pay off the jewelry. If she was thankful enough to wear what she have, she wouldn’t have gone through all that trouble and she would have saved that forty thousand francs to herself and her future. However her selfishness took the
