Vivisection: Necessity or Brutality?
Introduction/Explanation of Issues
From the ancient times of the Greek and Romans to modern society, experimenting on living organisms is a concept yet to be outdated. Rather than testing on people, animals have become the primary subjects who endeavor rigorous scientific experimenting; ultimately because it is inhumane to test on a person with such serve trials. Vivisectionists, scientists who conduct experimental trials on living creatures, defend their professions with medical breakthroughs that have saved nearly all of the human race. There are two main motives for experimenting animals: firstly, to analyze more information about the animal, and, secondly, to determine whether the substance at question

It is because of these differences that testing on animals seems completely unreliable, and is argued to never guarantee an accurate response. After twenty years and millions of dollars spent on researching AIDS, an incurable condition that inhibits the body’s capability to fight infection, the resulting vaccine that was tested on chimpanzees failed on people (Testing 2017). Furthermore, evidence has proven that testing drugs on animals is practically meaningless for human’s research, and expresses successful rate of only 5-30% ( Testing 2017). Animal tests cannot predict a reliable result on a human body, for example, 150 human tests of a cure to reduce inflammation in extremely sick patients had been performed, and all failed in all cases (Animal Testing 2017). As a substitute, scientists have successfully made alternative models that mimic the human bodies reaction such as simulated eyes, human cells, human tissue, and in turn due away with some of the animal experiments being conducted.
The most significant result and reason for why animal texting is still being practiced is because of its contribution to a number of life-saving cures and treatments. For example, as polio began to spread across the globe, the polio vaccine was tried on animals and successfully reduced the spread of the disease from 350,000 cases (Animal Testing

If a laboratory of bunnies are at stake to find a cure for cancer, I suppose I would be in favor of the experimentation, but because thousands of bunnies are dying so that first-world females can have luscious red lips and sparking eyelids, then I am in against such torture. In addition, any moral person would be against the typical animal abuse such as hitting or kicking a dog, but ultimately the pain inflicted on animals from experimentations is simply a different kind of abuse. I believe that experimenting on animals should be limited to only necessary medical research and not for commercial uses such as testing makeup, soap, lotion, etc. (The Truth about Animals Used for Experimentation 2017)
Conclusion
To further support animal testing, some argue it’s either us or them. What they neglect to realize is that we are them, and they are us. We cannot justify the killing of innocent lives who do not know any better when we, the most developed creatures to roam this earth, know better ourselves. Being in favor of animal testing does not make you evil and being against does not make you are ignorant, but after seeing both perspectives we must understand the need for a balance of both

In 2008, a video was released by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) that showed severe animal cruelty at Mowmar Farms Hog Confinement, located just outside of Fairmont, Minnesota (Genoways). The video showed employees prodding hogs too crippled to stand with electric prods and beating hogs repeatedly on their backs with metal gate rods (Genoways). Adding to this, the video also revealed the method the workers used to euthanize underweight piglets: a technique called thumping (Genoways). Thumping involves workers taking the piglets by their hind legs and smashing their skulls against the concrete floor. Their bodies would then be put in large bins, where they would be left to die (Genoways).…

For most people there are two scenarios that come to mind when they hear animal testing. The first scenario is that scientist are torturing, neglecting and abusing the animals that are being tested on. The other scenario is that scientist are being ethical, take care of the animals and are creating life-saving medicines. This makes the use of animals in experiments a controversial topic; a topic that isn’t quite black and white when argued. There are different types of animal testing like, medical testing and cosmetic testing; one is more ethical than the other.…

Oliveira 1 Animals should not be used for scientific or commercial testing because animal testing is cruel and inhumane, alternate testing methods are available, and because humans and animals are every different from each other making animals very poor test subjects. Research on living animals has been practiced since at least 500 BC (Animal Testing Pro & Con). Scientist use animals for many different purposes. Animals are used to test the effectiveness and safety of new drugs before those drugs are given to people to treat illness and disease. Animals can also be used as test subjects for products like lipstick, eyeshadow, contact lens solution, and shampoo (Hayhurst, 26).…

People, especially scientists, are hurting innocent animals that did no harm to anyone. Animal testing shouldn't be allowed to happen because animals are getting hurt, they are not protected, and animals get mistreated. One reason that animal testing shouldn’t be allowed is because animals are getting hurt. For instance, the Draize eye test involves rabbits having their eyelids clipped open for as long as multiple days so that they don’t blink the product being tested away. Popular cosmetic brands like L'oreal, Lancome, Estee Lauder, and S.C. Johnson are used on animals.…

When animals are used in medical research, it is great way to uncover the mysteries and find treatments or even cures for various diseases. For example, in Shany Sun’s Young Scientists Journal article, “The Truth Behind Animal Testing,” the author says, “…medical advancements that have been discovered through animal testing include penicillin, blood transfusions, insulin (that controls blood sugar levels of diabetics), kidney transplants, and vaccines for polio and meningitis” (Sun 1). This example shows just how beneficial animal testing in medical research can be. These medical advancements would not have been available for years if animal testing had not…

Animal Experimentation Animal experimentation has been around for many centuries. Humans perform these experiments on all species of animals to find different effect of a product it could have on a human. Three advantages in particular advantages are, it helps scientists gain a better understanding for cures of different diseases, this practice makes a vital advance in medicine, and for the expense of treatments and cures animals should not have rights when it comes to research. Although there are many advantages to animal experimentation, there are also disadvantages which include, there is no benefit for the humans, it is cruel, and is dangerous for humans to be treated only after a trial on animals. The first advantage to animal experimentation is using animals like rats can help the scientist gain better knowledge for different…

Animal testing has been a part of our society since the early 1900s. And it appears to me, that not until around 40 years ago or so, people began to realize that testing animals was inhumane on many different levels. But because we are the human beings that we are, we still try to shy away from a lot of the negative consequences of animal testing. It is easier for us to push aside that which is bad and try only to look at the positive aspects. Yet, in my opinion, the cons outweigh the pros.…

After studying multiple views on animal testing I have come to realize my personal view has now changed since the start of my research. Before undergoing heavy study into animal testing I believed that all types of animal testing should be stopped, but now I believe that the idea is very beneficial and should only be done when the rights of the animal are considered. In the coming years, hopefully, more regulations can be passed to ensure that all animal’s lives are protected during experimentation. Although most animals are treated with care and no pain is dealt to them when undergoing testing, it would be a lie if I stated no animals are harmed during the process. Animal testing is extremely useful in developing life-saving drugs and medicine.…
