The Necessity Of Planned Parenthood

Great Essays
There is a lot of debate going on in the media about Planned Parenthood and the services they provide. According to their website, “Planned Parenthood is one of the nation's leading providers of high-quality, affordable health care for women, men, and young people, and the nation's largest provider of sex education”(“Planned Parenthood at a Glance”). Planned Parenthood has been taking a lot of heat recently for videos that were released by the Center for Medical Progress showing Planned Parenthood officials discussing the procedures and logistics of harvesting organs from aborted fetus’ for resale to research laboratories across the country. Planned Parenthood has been getting away with performing horrendous acts like this for years, and …show more content…
Conservatives and Pro-Life organizations have been trying to do something to cut government funding to Planned Parenthood, but have been unsuccessful so far. The new evidence that has been released about Planned Parenthood selling the body parts from every fetus they abort has many conservatives hoping something will finally be done to stop the government from funding 41% of Planned Parenthood’s annual revenue (O’Bannon). While many people believe Planned Parenthood’s services are a benefit to society, Planned Parenthood should not receive funding from the government because of the unethical services they provide and because they altered their abortion procedure in order to profit from selling the body parts of the fetus. The United States government should cut funding to Planned Parenthood because they have admitted to altering their abortion procedure in order to profit from selling the body parts of the fetuses they abort. Evidence of Planned Parenthood doing these atrocious things has come out in multiple videos released by the Center for …show more content…
The video shows CEO of StemExpress, Cate Dyer, laughing about how her company purchases completely intact aborted fetuses from Planned Parenthood (Ertelt). It’s hard to believe that our government has supplied this inhumane, crime filled organization with over 1.5 billion dollars from 2010-2012 and they get away with performing appalling acts like this one (O’Bannon). There are currently two committees in the House of Representatives that are forming investigations of Planned Parenthood that could ultimately leading to the defunding of this giant in the abortion industry. One committee is investigating whether or not Planned Parenthood is breaking federal law by changing the abortion procedure in order to sell the body parts of the fetuses they abort and the other is looking into the relationship between the Obama administration and Planned Parenthood to see if any foul play has occurred (Ertelt). If the Obama administration has provided any federal grants to Planned Parenthood that have been used to perform business transactions with aborted baby parts we could finally see something being done to defund this horrific

Planned Parenthood vs. Right-Wing Conservatives Planned Parenthood is a non-profit, government funded organization that provides mostly women’s health services (abortion, STD screening, birth control). Recently, a heavily edited video was released by the Center for Medical Progress that provides alleged evidence of the non-profit Planned Parenthood receiving “compensation” for aborted fetal tissue. Obviously, this video brought up concerns and much controversy between those in support of and against Planned Parenthood. Conservatives in Congress now believe Planned Parenthood no longer deserves government funding; however, Planned Parenthood provides useful and sometimes life-saving services to men and women, therefore demonstrates a pressing…

Here recently in lieu of President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence winning the elections donations to Planned Parenthood have gone up. This is mostly due to people knowing that Vice President-elect Mike Pence wants to defund Planned Parenthood. “According to the Indianapolis Star, there have been 160,000 donations to Planned Parenthood in the last week — 12.5 percent in the name of Pence,” says Julie Maziotta of People Magazine. Julie Maziotta also said “Several celebrities donated to Planned Parenthood in the seven days since the election, including Katy Perry (who gave $10,000), and Amy Schumer and Amber Tamblyn, who said they donated in Pence’s name.” With all of these donations it seems like if Planned Parenthood happened to be defunded the organization would make out okay.…

Planned Parenthood is well known for being a trusted health care provider in America. Since the 1960’s they have been a powerful voice for women’s rights. In July and August 2015, they took a major “hit.” The Center for Medical Progress (CMP) released a series of videos showing Planned Parenthood officials acquiring tissues from aborted fetuses and selling the tissues. David Daleiden, founder of CMP, produced the videos saying that they provided evidence of, “criminal conspiracy to make money off of aborted baby parts.”…

Women’s rights has been an issue in the United States since the early 1800’s and until all people are comfortable discussing the fact that in many parts of the world, women have no say in what they can do with their bodies or how it’s treated. A woman should be the only one who can decide what is best for her body. There is only so much that women can do when the one place that helps women with checkups and abortion based questions, Planned Parenthood, is being defunded or closed down. “The House of Representatives is expected to pass a budget reconciliation bill that guts the Affordable Care Act, pulls roughly $450 million in federal assistance from Planned Parenthood and prevents Medicaid recipients from getting reimbursed…
