At the Naval Academy, the Honor Concept is good always and everywhere. The Academy is a microcosm of the larger world; however, this microcosm shields us from many greater evils that exist, even if only in rare, exceptional cases, in the real world. I cannot think of a situation at the Academy in which lying, cheating, or stealing would be permissible. In my opinion, lying, cheating, and stealing are only acceptable in life or death situations. Certainly, many of us will break this at one point for a much smaller reason, such as helping a friend or trying to evade punishment, but those actions are failures in tests of integrity.
