Throughout The Nature of College Farrell argues that the everyday life of a college student impacts the environment whether they know it or not. Things such as using the bathroom, washing your hair and taking a shower all play a part in effecting the environment. Taking a shower, for example, is something that we all do and we probably don’t stop to think about its impact on the world around us. When we take a shower we use approximately 3 gallons of water per minute and since I am pretty sure that no one takes one minute showers we use way more than 3 gallons. The average person takes about 10 minutes in the shower, which in turn would be 30 gallons of fresh water being dumped down the drain. Fossil fuels are also being burned to keep hot
