The National Honor Society

National Honor Society (NHS), a highly prestigious organization that runs nationwide. It is more than just an honors club. The National Honor Society recognizes students who show excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. I believe that I possess these qualities, and will be able to contribute to the betterment of the community. The National Honor Society would give me a huge opportunity to reach out and give more to the society. It would be of my greatest honor to be part of the NHS chapter at Riverside. Defined as the qualities distinctive to an individual, character is what makes someone stand out from others. I feel that I possess a diversity of qualities that NHS is looking for in a person. I am very confident, …show more content…
I really love working serving kids, and I am really passionate about it. In India, I went to this home for orphaned kids. I helped raise some money with a group, and we donated it to the kids for their education. I also took part in this volunteer group project, which lasted about a week. We would go to the nearby lake, which was extremely polluted, and pick up the trash. I also take part in bake sales to raise money for charity, and help out at food pantries. I believe that service is what bring the community together and more united. I like the intentions of services in NHS. I would love to be part of the tutoring program, and the various projects that NHS takes part in to benefit the community. I would also like to see and possibly start new projects as …show more content…
If I am given the opportunity to be part of Riverside’s NHS, I would really like to start a tie up with a hospital for children with special needs. For all the members who love sports, with permission, we could set up a few days where we teach the kids how to play a sport, and just spend time with them. If the kids are physically capable of, interested in learning a sport, and have doctor’s permission, I think it would make the children feel really happy and give them an opportunity to do something they really like. We could also set up a day where we can hold competitions for them. I believe that it would boost their confidence level and would make a difference in their lives. I would get permission of the authorities, and go talk to a hospital and see if they are interested in this project. Also, I think once a year, we could send care packages to veterans, and wounded soldiers. I think this would be a great service for those fighting for our country. If this is a possibility, I would try to go to an organization that sends donations to our soldiers, and ask them if they would want to go about this project. I would try to get donations from various students, and companies with the help of some other members. I think it would be really fun to start these projects and will benefit the community a lot. I feel like I would be a good addition to the National Honor Society.
