The National Education Association (NEA), currently headed by Lily Eskelsen Garcia, is one of the oldest and largest teacher’s union in America. It was founded in 1857 by Zalmon Richards to advocate for its members and unite the nation in an effort to provide public education in a manner that allows every student to succeed. Since its inception, it has continued to unite its members in the efforts of bettering the conditions within the public education sector and ensuring the wellbeing of its members. A close examination of WCA’s Faculty and Staff Handbook, Student and Parent Handbook and NHA’s Employee Handbook show correlation to the federal law and describes some policies and procedures related to students and staff.
