National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCA), which is a non-profit organization that provides college athletes and the coaches for the resources. This association is similar to the professional association such as: NBA, NFL, and NHL. Over the years, college sports have become very popular in the United States; more people are inclined to watch college sports than the Professional sports. Since gaining a lot of popularity amongst the people, it has resulted them into gaining revenues for the NCAA and the colleges that are participating in this program. One of the reasons is that students are already receiving scholarship for playing sports in college. Some analyst argues that fiving them full scholarships for the college is enough for them. “Scholarships granted to student athletes cover tuition, fees, room, board and textbooks, according to the National Collegiate Athletic Association website”(Block). Students are already receiving the basic necessity for their college; furthermore they should not be paid. Being a college athlete, it’s basically a VIP treatment for them; they have more advantage than their comrades. “The average value of a full, in-state public school scholarship is $15,000 a year, according to the website”(Block). Looking at this statistic, it shows college students are already receiving a free education and should take an advantage of it. NCCA President Mark Emmert says: “College athletes need to recognize their opportunity as a privilege, that most young kids aspire to attain, but are never given to opportunity to have. Just do it for the love of the game, because that’s what it is, a game”(Murphy).
