People should stand up for the national anthem because it's just something that Americans do and have been doing for years. People have been standing for the national anthem since 1891. And since then it’s just been something tons of countries have been doing, Actually, People stop what they're doing and stand to the flag when the anthem starts playing. Walking out of a tunnel with your hands up, or wearing a t-shirt that says “I cant breath” or taking a knee for a song.
