If the slaves were late, they got whipped ten times. Also, slaves were often separated from their families. Mothers lost their sons, couples were separated because the slave owners did not buy them together. At the slave auctions, the slaves were inspected very well. The buyers looked at their teeth, their ability to run and preform physical exercises. They even made the slaves undress so that they can be properly inspected. Young girls, as young as twelve years old and women were rapped by their masters.
